Terms
Effective August 2, 2026.
These terms are an agreement between you and Ann Arbor Apps LLC for use of hackathon.network and its related applications, APIs, directory, and support services (“Hackathon Network”). By using Hackathon Network, submitting a listing, creating an account, joining an event, or purchasing a service, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract; if you act for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind it.
Accounts and acceptable use
You must provide accurate information, use only accounts you are authorized to use, protect access to your sign-in provider, and promptly report suspected misuse. You may not abuse event participants, evade access controls or plan limits, upload malware, interfere with service operation, scrape private information, impersonate another person, send spam, reverse engineer protected portions of the service, or use Hackathon Network unlawfully.
Organizer responsibilities
Organizers are responsible for accurate event details, eligibility rules, participant communications, lawful collection and use of registration information, judge selection, prize commitments, results, venue safety, accessibility, permits, insurance, and any permissions needed for minors, schools, sponsors, or in-person venues. Hackathon Network does not fund prizes or guarantee attendance, admission, judging outcomes, project quality, event safety, or that an event will occur.
Hackathon directory listings
You may submit a directory listing only when you are authorized to represent the event and the information is accurate. Submission does not guarantee approval, publication, placement, attendance, or endorsement. Hackathon Network may decline, correct, unpublish, or remove listings that are unsafe, stale, misleading, unlawful, infringing, or inconsistent with these terms. Events operated on Hackathon Network receive automatic promoted placement and are labeled as hosted here; independent listings cannot purchase or imply that designation.
Projects, submissions, and intellectual property
You keep ownership of content you create. You grant Ann Arbor Apps LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, process, display, and distribute that content only as needed to operate, promote, secure, support, and improve Hackathon Network according to your visibility choices and the event workflow. You represent that you have the necessary rights to submit the content. Event-specific rules may add license or prize conditions, and organizers must disclose those rules before registration.
Hackathon Network and its software, branding, and original materials belong to Ann Arbor Apps LLC or its licensors. These terms do not transfer those rights to you. Feedback may be used without obligation to you.
Judging and results
Judges must disclose conflicts and evaluate only assigned projects. Organizers control event rubrics and final results. Rankings, feedback, prizes, and recognition are event decisions and are not certifications or guarantees by Hackathon Network.
Trials, paid plans, cancellation, and refunds
When paid organizer plans are available, they are billed through Stripe at the price and interval shown at checkout. Public plans use a card-required 14-day trial, limited to one trial per organization. Unless cancelled before the displayed trial end, the selected subscription begins automatically and renews monthly or annually until cancelled. Prices exclude applicable taxes, which Stripe calculates at checkout when required.
Charges are non-refundable except where law requires otherwise or checkout expressly states otherwise. Cancelling a paid subscription stops its next renewal while paid organizer access continues through the current paid term. Cancelling during the trial prevents the first charge. Returning from checkout alone never grants access; signed payment and subscription events are authoritative. We may change future prices or limits with advance notice.
Third-party services
Hackathon Network uses third-party providers for cloud hosting, identity, payments, email, analytics, DNS, and support. Their terms and privacy practices govern your direct relationship with them. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control, and integrations may change or become unavailable.
Availability, suspension, and termination
The service may change, pause, or discontinue features. Ann Arbor Apps LLC may restrict or terminate accounts, listings, or content for nonpayment, a material breach, security risk, unlawful conduct, provider requirements, or harm to others or the service. Private records may be preserved when reasonably required for security, disputes, legal compliance, or event integrity. Provisions that logically should survive—including payment, ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and dispute terms—will survive.
Disclaimers and liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HACKATHON NETWORK IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” ANN ARBOR APPS LLC DISCLAIMS IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT THE SERVICE WILL ALWAYS BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SUITABLE FOR EVERY USE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ANN ARBOR APPS LLC AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITIES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM HACKATHON NETWORK WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR HACKATHON NETWORK DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. LIMITS APPLY ONLY TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, if you organize an event or use Hackathon Network for an organization, you will defend and indemnify Ann Arbor Apps LLC from third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your event, content, misuse of participant information, violation of law, or breach of these terms, except to the extent caused by our own unlawful conduct.
Governing law and changes
Michigan law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Washtenaw County, Michigan have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer law requires otherwise. If one term is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue. We may update these terms by posting a revised effective date and giving additional notice when required. Continued use after an update takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
