Legal · prelaunch draft

Terms

Prelaunch draft — not yet effective. Last updated August 1, 2026. These terms require owner and legal review before public registration or billing begins.

These draft terms describe the intended rules for using Hackathon Network as a builder, organizer, judge, or collaborator. By using the future production service, users will agree to the effective version presented at that time.

Accounts and acceptable use

You must provide accurate information, use only accounts you are authorized to use, and protect access to your sign-in provider. You may not abuse event participants, evade access controls, upload malware, interfere with service operation, scrape private information, impersonate another person, or use the service unlawfully.

Organizer responsibilities

Organizers are responsible for accurate event details, eligibility rules, participant communications, lawful collection of registration answers, judge selection, prize commitments, results, and any permissions needed for minors, schools, sponsors, or in-person venues. Hackathon Network does not fund prizes or guarantee attendance, judging outcomes, or project quality.

Projects, submissions, and intellectual property

You keep ownership of content you create. You grant the service the limited rights needed to host, process, display, and deliver that content according to your visibility choices and the event workflow. You must have the rights to everything you upload. Event-specific rules may add license or prize conditions, and organizers must disclose those rules before registration.

Judging and results

Judges must disclose conflicts and evaluate only assigned projects. Organizers control event rubrics and final results. Rankings, feedback, prizes, and recognition are event decisions and are not certifications or guarantees by Hackathon Network.

Trials, paid plans, cancellation, and refunds

The proposed first release uses card-required organizer trials and recurring monthly or annual subscriptions through Stripe. The final price, renewal date, taxes, cancellation behavior, and refund policy must be displayed at checkout and approved before billing is enabled. Returning from checkout alone never grants access; signed payment and subscription events are authoritative.

Availability and enforcement

The service may change, pause, or discontinue features and may restrict accounts or content that violate the effective terms, create security risk, or harm other users. Private records may be preserved when required for security, disputes, legal compliance, or event integrity.

Final legal terms still required

Before launch, the effective terms will add the approved contracting entity, governing law, warranty disclaimer, liability limits, indemnity, dispute process, refund policy, and contact details. Questions about this draft can be sent to legal@hackathon.network.
